HLAF gave its assurance to continue to provide vital protective equipment to the BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) and PDLs (Persons Deprived of Liberty) as the country battles against COVID-19.
Although meeting virtually, HLAF’s communication to the BJMP remains operational in providing for the welfare and needs of the PDLs, as well as the Jail guards, and other persons inside.
Currently, HLAF has donated more than 13,000 facemasks to the jails, namely: Manila City Jail, Malabon City Jail, Navotas City Jail, Caloocan City Jail, Quezon City Jail, and San Mateo Municipal Jail, the donations were in partnership with the MCKS Caring Heart Foundation.
At the same time, HLAF will also donate concentrated disinfectants next week to sanitize the jail dorms and give other jails their needs.
As the spread of COVID-19 continues to affect everyone in the country, HLAF puts its top priority on the health, well-being, and welfare of people who are most vulnerable to the pandemic. It also ensures that it gives priority to every barangays and the community, alongside safe and humane operations. HLAF continues to monitor the different situations closely and respond to the different needs of the PDLs, and fellow Filipinos.
